Writing has taught me the importance of self reflection and analytical thinking. Throughout my writing experience in High School and College, I noticed my writing has transcended from narrative writing into more analytical writing. This transformation came within the brainstorming and writing process of WP3, and it showed me how…

As I look back on my memories from high school, I was constantly stressed with work. I always felt behind on my work, especially in math, and this.First of all, the teacher student relationship is horrendous because the students are just expected to take a class like geometry and use it later In their life. I want to be a veterinarian, and I don’t think I’ll ever be using shapes to give a vaccination to a sick or injured animal. The students are also expected to just take the information and memorize it. For example, the New York State requires regents examinations in all subjects. These exams basically repeat the same question phrased in different ways. I remember my teachers would always say “Make sure you guys study this, it shows up a lot on Regents Exams.” I would scramble to study for these tests and try and memorize the concepts without actually understanding them. This put a tremendous amount of stress and pressure on myself to do well on these Regents exams because our teachers would always say “Your colleges will be looking at these”.Freire covers the baking system perfectly by describing it as “the scope of action allowed to the students extends only as far as receiving, filing, and storing the deposits.” We are basically being treated as useless banks filling with deposits of checks of useless knowledge. In this teacher student relationship, the student is very limited on what they can do. I always thought it was ridiculous how kids have to ASK to go to the bathroom, and even more ridiculous when teachers say no.

Whenever I hear someone say that New York bagels are overrated… I am always the first to fight their response. I immediately go back at them by saying that New York bagels are far superior than any other bagel because of the water. …
